Debbie Trent: Thank you for visiting my blog. I have been writing here as I completed a doctorate in public policy and public administration. Earlier, I worked in federal government, as an international education/training consultant, and as a research coordinator. I am continuing my research and hope to resume practicing public diplomacy as I prepare to teach and conduct grant projects. As I study comparative public administration, development, and international conflict resolution, I focus on relationship-building across international, transnational, and domestic political spaces. I try to understand how people in government, civil society, and the private sector can listen to and understand each other better – to learn to collaborate – and how diasporans figure in these spaces. My regional expertise covers the broader Middle East, Russia, and central Asia, including global education administration experience and some ability in Arabic and Russian. I volunteer in an interfaith social justice organization, Action In Montgomery, an affiliate of the Industrial Areas Foundation. My work, research, and community service converge in a commitment to non-violent, deliberative peacebuilding.
